Stress management is not removing pressure. It is increasing your load bearing capacity. Stress is constant in startups.

Treat stress as a biological signal you can manage and you can stay effective for years. This is the shift from fragile balance to a sustainable integration.

Rule: recovery is not time off, it is maintenance.

Defining the core pillars

Burnout prevention: energy accounting. Burnout is working hard too long without recovery or a sense of progress.

Work life integration: founder is a role, human is your identity. Your personal life should fuel your work, not drain it.

Wellness: sleep, nutrition, movement. If these break, your decision making and emotional control break next.

What you should learn

Window of tolerance: notice when you are hyper aroused or hypo aroused, then use tools to return to the clear thinking zone.

Cortisol and dopamine cycles: chronic stress kills long term thinking. Survival mode makes you short term and reactive.

Recovery paradox: the moments you feel least able to rest are usually the moments you need it most.

How to learn it

A. Non negotiable big three

Protect sleep, movement, and a screen free hour before bed. Treat it like a company requirement.

B. Physiological sigh and box breathing

When adrenaline spikes, do two quick inhales through the nose, then one long exhale. This is a fast nervous system reset.

C. Energy audit

Mark calendar items as green or red. If most of your week is red, offload and redesign the schedule before burnout hits.

D. Study why zebras do not get ulcers

Learn the difference between real threats and thought threats, and how to turn off the stress response after the moment passes.
